We are thrilled to be working with Toronto Park People to bring local communities the opportunity to turn their everyday green spaces into vital neighbourhood areas. These areas will not only bring our communities together but will offer a place for generations to enjoy.

Scott Mullen

Vice President Community Relations, TD Bank Group

Communities are already enjoying their green spaces more than they ever.  Here are just a few quotes from participants in TD Park Builder programs to express how Scott’s words are becoming a reality for 31 underserved communities where this funding has made a difference over the last two years:

Parks are a great place to bring people in the community together. In the CLAP session, I learned not to just play basics of instruments but really pay attention while I was playing since the environment was so relaxing. I had the opportunity to get away from my day-to-day life and actually do something that I don’t often do; spending quality time in the parks.

It turned out great! It was beautiful to see so many residents in the park, opening their bodies and hearts through the movements of yoga. At the same time promoting attention to the garden space.

I have been coming to the garden every week since April. Even though my health is not good, this place makes me forget my aches and pains and all the problems I have. I like watering the plants, taking care of the garden and watching the beautiful flowers grow.

I am really proud of all of us, we helped clean our park and to be honest, this looks really clean. We should organize a group that would come out every week to help clean. It feels good that our actions create a positive impact.

At the end of another successful year of TD Park Builder projects, we are happy to announce that TD has generously offered to extend the program for a third year. If you live in an NIA or an underserved community and would like to improve and animate your park or green space, please send us a note at masani@parkpeople.ca.

Thank you to all 31 groups that we have had the great pleasure to work with, thanks to all the people and agencies that support the groups and finally a big, big thank you to TD Bank Group without whose support we wouldn’t have the opportunity to do this important work!
