If you’re lucky enough to see the Salmon spawning at the TRCA’s Salmon Festival at Highland Creek on Oct 2, you’ll witness a fish about the size of a two-year-old kid. Literally. Chinook Salmon regularly weigh in at 25 lbs. The fish is so spectacular, when Catherine Porter first saw the salmon in Highland Creek, the Toronto Star reporter remarked that the salmon were:
“bigger than my grandmother’s dachshund, Gustave.”
If you’re curious about the 7th Annual Salmon Festival, check out a video we made about this terrific event a couple of years ago. But, like any trailer, you’ll need to go to see all of the real spawning action take place.
A special Thank You to Earth Rangers, for supporting Park People’s involvement at this year’s Salmon Festival. We look forward to seeing you all there!
