Many Mount Dennis residents know and love the Humber Valley, which marks the west edge of our community. If have never visited this area, you should definitely come. Even if you know the valley well, we guarantee you will learn something new! Find out about the valley’s “carrying place” history; how tuberculosis led to the “lost piggery”; the effects of Hurricane Hazel; the Raymore weir and its fish ladder; plans for a new LRT bridge; ongoing “forest garden” work by indigenous groups, and more!
All-ages activities from 11 am – 3 pm. Water and snacks provided. Our thanks to Park People, the City of Toronto, and the Balsam Foundation.
Meet near the Emmett Ave. entrance - just north of the Eglinton Ave. Humber bridge. You can walk (use Portage Gardens trail if you live north of Buttonwood), or drive to the Emmett Ave. parking lot. Metrolinx staff will be near the bridge from 12-2 pm. Indigenous partners will be on site further north from 1 – 3 pm. More details at mountdennis.ca
