Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society Manitoba Chapter

The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) is Canada’s only nationwide charity dedicated solely to the protection of our public land and water, and ensuring our parks are managed to protect the nature within them. In the past 50+ years, we’ve played a lead role in protecting over half a million square kilometres – an area bigger than the entire Yukon Territory! The Manitoba Chapter has helped establish 22 parks and protected areas (26,000+ square kilometers) since 1991.

The protection, conservation and health of our environment impacts all peoples of Manitoba. As such, we aim to work cooperatively with government, First Nations, business, other organizations and individuals in a consensus-seeking manner to conserve our wild spaces. Our goal is to ensure all Manitobans can benefit from the bounty of nature. We work to engage all demographics — including under-represented communities such as new Canadians — in conservation efforts. We place a strong emphasis on engaging Indigenous peoples and in supporting Indigenous-led conservation. For more information please see our statement of reconciliation: https://cpawsmb.org/about/reconciliation. Connecting people to nature is a core aspect of the CPAWS mission statement and we have long been a national leader in outdoor education and research.
