City of Burnaby- Northwest Community

Our focus is on community recreation, and play based drop in activities. In the summer time our parks are used frequently as a drop in service for families, and gives them access to wading pools, arts and crafts, and sports and games. We staff the parks with knowledgable leaders. Within the park service, we focus on nature and sustainability, helping children and families explore the areas around them. We also host special events at the park to build community and create connections in each area. We encourage families to utilize their local parks as much as possible throughout the year. In the Northwest Community, I have staff working at 5 parks throughout July and August. I would love to be able to better use the park space throughout the year. This grant money would allow for us to run events in the "off-season". I am hoping to be able to run a pumpkin planting session in the spring as well as a pumpkin parade in the fall, in addition to a movie night at another local park.
