Conseil Communautaire Notre Dame de Grace

The NDG Community Council is a not-for-profit organization (informally started in 1942, and formally registered in 1948) that acts to promote, improve and sustain the well-being of the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce community and its residents. Throughout the pandemic parks have become more vital to our well being and I would like to focus on 3 parks that are close to a large concentration of apartment complexes. We have 2 small parks that are mostly green space and we would like to highlight the importance of having a space to go seek respite an enjoy a small bit of greenery. One Park Herbert Outerbridge has been neglected for years. Our Parks People money will be a spring board to highlight an area of the park that was destroyed by heavy equipment and trucks when an apartment building was built to the south of the park. The goal of highlighting the area is to illicit stewardship towards green spaces. The events will be used to create a task force of residents wanting to preserve our spaces and not allow such a thing to happen in the future. The park has a round hearth that was created with bricks, most of that is destroyed. We want to highlight the damages and create another group to work on creative solutions for repairs. All three parks are close by and we will 3 activities to highlight the importance of stewardship towards green spaces and preservation.
