Dalhousie Community Association Community Garden
The Dalhousie Community Association Community Garden is a volunteer-run community garden developed with support from the Dalhousie Community Association. The community garden was launched last year and resulted in a formerly empty, gravel lot being transformed into a vibrant green space in the heart of Ottawa's Chinatown and Little Italy neighbourhoods.
The garden itself is an organic site that also serves as a tool for promoting urban gardening. We work to actively educate our members about urban gardening and have a fairly extensive educational plan for summer 2018 to build awareness amongst our members and community members about organic urban gardening.
The Dalhousie Community Garden board is committed to using the community garden as a centre for community building and we have been working actively with community members and local businesses to forge linkages between community members. We see community events as playing a vital role in bringing our members and neighbours together to build community and promote this new green space.
