Downtown Yonge BIA
Downtown Yonge BIA (DYBIA) is a not for profit organization. We are the stewards of Downtown Yonge community with boundaries to the south, Richmond Street; north, Alexander Street; east, Church Street; and west, Bay Street. Within the catchment, there are several park spaces - Trinity Square Park, College Park (currently under construction, scheduled to finish July 2018 and McGill and Granby Parkettes. In 2012, we started programming under utilized spaces which included the parks with music, games and fitness classes - Play the Parks. The program brings together the community from different walks of life, sharing a common experience, music. Toronto Public Health acknowledged that Play the Parks help create a healthier community by bringing tower office employees outside during lunch breaks instead of having lunch at their desks. When College Park re-opens, programming will be expanded to other activities like Farmers Market, spoken words, community picnics, etc.
Downtown Yonge with its stakeholders do year-round maintenance of these parks and includes an annual Clean-Up Day that aligns with Clean Toronto Together. This event brings together residents, business owners, employees, social agencies, Ryerson University, streets involved people and Toronto Police.
The parks in Downtown Yonge are hidden gems. A patch of green space amidst the concrete jungle.
