Friends of Alexander Muir Memorial Park

we are a group of volunteers who garden in the Park with the permission and support of the City of Toronto Parks Department . This will be year 5 for us. We are responsible for most of the park non manicured areas along Yonge street and at the St Edmunds Drive entrance and the Perennial border close to the tennis courts. We have been provided with lockup space at the Parks shed area and also some tools and access to water through the rainbird connections in the park. We work on our own, we decide what we will do and mostly we are rediscovering "lost| gardens, Invasive species control is our priority but we also plant and redistribute materials in the area to improve it. So far we have rehabilitated 2 rock garden areas working on a third and restoring an area where dog strangling vine succeeded in killing off trees, Last year we were not permitted to work during covid so there will be ;lots of work to regain control of the invasive species.
