Friends of Carlington Hill
We are an informal group of neighbours & friends who value and enjoy Carlington Park. Carlington Park is home to one of the city's largest reservoirs (water source for 300K+ people), is the highest natural point in the city, and is surrounded by urban forests that have been designated Environmentally Protected Zones (Carlington and Clyde Woods). All this within a dense and diverse neighbourhood in west Ottawa.
We initially formed over concerns about certain activities in the park that impact roots, trees, other vegetation, and wildlife. While we continue to do work on these core issues, we also hold regular clean up events and guided walks to promote the special role urban forests and parks plays.
