Greater Avalon Community Association

The Greater Avalon Community Association (GACA is a volunteer-run non-profit organization representing the interests of over 20,000 residents in the neighbourhoods southeast of Innes, from Innes Road to Wall Road and Tenth Line to Trim Road, on issues of local and area-wide development, community improvement, transit and recreation. We dedicate thousands of volunteer hours to make our community a great place to live, work, shop and play.
What do we do ?
We organize community events such as our 11th Community BBQ in September and our 7th Family Day celebrations, community garage sales and community activities such as Yoga in the Park once a week from June to August and maintain two rinks for public outdoor skating.
We work closely with the City of Ottawa to advise them of your concerns regarding the neighbourhood such as parking, traffic, transit, leisure and community safety.
We help deliver messages about future events and new projects for the City of Ottawa such as the expansion of the François Dupuis Recreation Centre, bike paths, public art project, etc.
We help act as the community’s voice vis-à-vis the City of Ottawa, such as zoning applications for large-scale real estate projects and land use ie. neighbourhood parks and protecting green space.
