Jane’s Walk Ottawa- Gatineau

Inspired by the work of Jane Jacobs, Jane's Walk is a festival of free walking tours led by locals who care passionately about where they live, work, and play. The walks allow people to tell stories about their communities, explore Ottawa and Gatineau, and connect with their neighbours. Held in Ottawa for the first time in 2007, the festival has attracted thousands of walkers every year since. Most of our walks will feature a park in someway, given that they are such important spaces for groups to gather and share ideas.
Last year we had walks in Gatineau Park, the Experimental Farm, the Arboretum, the Poet's Pathway, Pinhey Sand Dune, Minto Park, Dundonald Park and many more. We explored parks from so many perspectives: their historic origins, their ecosystems, how different communities use them, how they connect neighborhoods, and why they are sites of place-making.
