Leslieville Players

Hi there!
We are emerging artists based out of Toronto--out of Leslieville in particular--who are excited at the opportunity of bringing theatre to our community. I live only a few houses north of Leslie Grove Park and love seeing all the families and children from the neighbourhood that frequent that park. Our hope is to create more opportunities for our community to come together and share experiences through the art-form that we know how to do. Our project has two parts. The first is getting families together in Leslie Grove Park to paint and decorate simple set pieces, props, and costumes. The second is two days of performances that would be followed by a meet-and-greet/talkback in the park, maybe with food and drinks, depending on funding. The goal is for kids to help create something artistic one weekend, then see it incorporated as part of a show the next weekend in order to reinforce the idea that theatre is not only relatable and fun, but a great way to bring people and communities together. The east end of Toronto has been getting more and more theatre lately and we think the neighbourhood is ready for this kind of experience!
