NEATwalks is part of NEAT (Newcomers Explore and Appreciate Toronto) mentorship program where various teams consisting of a mentor and 2-5 newcomers work together to explore Toronto by walk and organize at least 2 guided tours/outdoor/indoor activities within 4-6 months’ time. These walks/activities are geared towards engaging new immigrants and refugees to get acquainted with Canada's culture but everyone who is interested is welcome to participate. Since 2011 when this program started, it has evolved in providing types of events and activities. We also incorporate winter activities (Wintegration) to introduce Toronto's winter culture to newcomers and all. Every year we recruit new NEAT teams. Since 2011, with the help of our various NEAT teams, we have successfully organized more than hundred events (guided tours/outdoor/indoor/wintegration activities).
