PickWaste is a community initiative that was started out of the necessity to clean up mother earth. We pick up litter one hour once a week around the City of Pickering but we are rapidly expanding this summer to different locations across the GTA. We began as four young men on July 1, 2017, but have quickly spread throughout the community. We have spoken at local schools and churches to inform people in our community about pollution and get as many people to act upon this global issue. We currently have over 200 sign-ups and continue to grow. Our mission statement is “To Protect and conserve our home for the present and future generations.” At PickWaste we know that nature and the vitality of the human species is one and the same. When we pollute Mother Nature, we are in turn causing much unnecessary suffering to ourselves. We are striving to grow this initiative as this gives everyone an opportunity to make a difference in our society!
