Scarborough Village Community Garden at Fred Johnson Park
On May 23, 2009, the Orange Thumb project created a beautiful mix of shrubs, flowers, vegetables and herbs in raised and ground-level beds. Since then a group - some long-term, some recent - of local volunteer residents has done the dirty work to keep the plants flourishing, with a little help from mother nature. The weeding, watering, and planting continue, except after the frost forces us to put the garden to sleep for the winter. We are always looking for more participants from our community residents. The ways to participate are almost up to your imagination really. We welcome help with planning and decision-making on our Garden Committee, help with planting, weeding, edging beds, the fun work of getting dirt under your nails! The best way to know about our latest activities is by signing up to our mailing list (firstname.lastname@example.org), by emailing John Doleweerd.
