South Vancouver Neighbourhood House

South Vancouver Neighbourhood House (SVNH) is a community-based organization that has been strengthening the neighbourhoods in South Vancouver since 1977. We serve the area between Main Street and Boundary, from 41st to the Fraser River. This encompasses three City neighbourhoods: Sunset, Victoria-Fraserview and Killarney-Champlain. We work with hundreds of volunteers and dozens of partner agencies to deliver programs to nearly 3,000 people each year. We facilitate relationships among community groups of different cultural, economic, religious and social backgrounds. Our programs and services are determined by conditions within each community, the needs and interests of local residents. As a Good Food Organization, we are committed to increasing our capacity to offer healthy food and contribute to a fair and sustainable food system, which includes building a connection with our land and supporting a healthy environment.

SVNH and fellow members the South Vancouver Food Network work together to connect our neighbours with the outdoors. Our South Vancouver Harvest Festival has been running annually since 2014. We host community garden workshops throughout the growing season annually at 5 partner locations. Our environmentally enthusiastic youth volunteer group has planted a pollinator garden to convert a roundabout into a useful space and raise awareness of pollinator importance. Our members love growing and cooking food outdoors and joining us in nature!
