The Yoga Association of Alberta
The Yoga Association of Alberta (YAA) is a non-profit, charitable organization that supports yoga instructors, offers teacher training, workshops and retreats to the public for the purpose of providing self-development opportunities. The YAA is an inclusive yoga community, united through the experience of stillness within; amidst the changing circumstances of life.
The YAA views its activities as promoting increased public knowledge, training of instructors and provision of yoga programs and outreach in the community. All individuals in the YAA are encouraged to participate in these activities in an atmosphere of respect and cooperation. Membership in YAA at December 31, 2019 is 1645 members.
The YAA provides coordination and support to yoga enthusiasts in the province through its program offerings including outreach initiatives and additionally, in collaboration with local yoga groups. Over the past two years, YAA's outreach program has included a 'Yoga for Indigenous Schools' which were delivered to five first nations rural schools, and yoga workshops to inmates at the Remand Centres.
