Winnipeg Trails Association

Winnipeg Trails Association (WTA) spawned out of the need to put in a single trail. We now serve all of Winnipeg and are proud of the role of Winnipeg as a leader in sustainable transportation in Manitoba. We are focused on the needs of people who like/need to use human power to move around. Our core activities, guided by our mission and vision, ultimately end up creating better options that offer profound enjoyment, lasting benefits and practical value to all Winnipeggers and visitors to our city.
We were established in 2003 as a project of the Rivers West Red River Corridor organization. We grew into a city-level umbrella voice for an informal coalition of 40+ organizations focused on the needs of trail builders and trail users. Over time, we became increasingly involved in accelerating trail and bikeway connectivity to, from and within the built-up urban areas of Winnipeg. We became an incorporated non-profit since March 2017. We have a staff of as many as 15 permanent or seasonal crew mem\bers including geographers, designers, planners, mechanics, policy experts and a large pool of volunteers to carry out multiple projects simultaneously.
Winnipeg Trails Association has a decade of experience in planning innovative branding and communication campaigns, as well as special events and training opportunities in outdoor green spaces including parks.
