York Hispanic Centre

Our purpose is to create , maintain and expand our green spaces so members of the community can participate in : community garden, Native plants and pollinators garden, and cultural, recreational and artistic activities.
We run a community garden since 2016, which has been growing each year. the community garden is run by volunteers who do the planing, planting and maintenance of the garden. The garden provide fresh vegetables and herbs, for volunteers gardeners and the community kitchen.
On 2017 we create the Native plants and Pollinators garden, due that in recent years have been a sharp decline in pollinator populations due to climate change, habitat loss, and pesticide overexposure. The creation of this garden was a great way of giving back to nature some of what has been lost, and teach about climate change, and environment protectiion.
We have provide gardening training to seniors and youth in Collaboration with Park and Recreation.
Activities at the garden: BBQs, Harvest Celebration, Latino food fair.
