Youth of East York
Youth Leaders of East York (YLEY), alternatively known as Youth of East York, is a growing youth-led organization that aims to serve the marginalized communities of Thorncliffe and Flemingdon Park.
This organization is relatively new and was born out of the realization that youth have the power to do amazing things. As future citizens and decision-makers, we believe it is important to actively engage with the city and its politics. Currently we are a team of 14 youth members from both high school and a variety of undergraduate programs.
We put a special emphasis on providing community youth members with reliable, relevant opportunities and the leadership skills required to excel. We are in the process of creating a website to provide youth with a platform to amplify their voice. We also work to address community issues identified by youth, with the support of more experienced organizations/community figures.
