TRCA’s Monarch Nation: Stop Motion Animation Workshop Series (Session 1)

About the Event:
Join the Toronto Region Conservation Authority in a four-part webinar series and create your own stop motion animation. Creatively explore monarch butterflies and learn about their life cycle by making your own characters. Complete your project by creating a background, props and scene elements. Bring your characters and props alive and present your very own animated film!
This program is intended for ages 6+:
- Beginner level information
- Activities and concepts that are friendly for all ages
- Intended audience includes children, youth, and adults
For this workshop series you will need:
- Plasticine or pipe cleaners (or both)
- Approximately 3 pieces of white paper
- Coloured drawing materials
- A shoe box
- A camera or mobile phone for pictures
Session #1: Create a monarch character made from plasticine or pipe cleaners.
Session #2: Draw your backgrounds.
Session #3: Learn the key components of how to create a stop motion animation.
Session #4: Capture your character in action with the use of a camera to create your very own stop motion animation.
This program is recommended for families with children ages 6 and up.
