Shwasti is a grassroots community-based organization started it’s journey in 2013. It works in the Taylor Massey and Crescent Town Neighbourhood Improvement Areas. Shwasti’s mission is to make community people happy and bringing some kind of peace, comfort and relaxation towards their lives. Shwasti has hosted indoor health workshops for several years. In the year2016 we hold a successful workshop outdoors for the first time. In 2017 Shwasti expanded this workshop into a festival and included more people from the neighboring Crescent Town, Teesdale and Oakridge communities.
Through these programs Shwasti built up partnership with Oakridge Community and Recreation Centre, West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre,Toronto Arts Foundation, Children peace theatre, Arts in the Park and connected with many other organizations. These exposed us with new opprtunities, new learnings, new friends, more outdoor activities and more use of green spaces and so many.
Shwasti also hosted Children Games, Children Arts programs and Nature Walks programs in the Prairie Drive Park, Dentonia Park and and Taylor Creek Park respectively.
Through these programs Shwasti could conveyed the message to the community to feel about of how the fresh air and healthy environment of the parks and green spaces can support them for their good health and good living.
