Green Line Supporters

Political Support

Park People has the support of many local politicians who have publicly signed on as supporters of the Green Line.

“I believe the vision and plan for the Green Line is vital to the west end and the city as a whole. The creation of more cycling infrastructure, new green spaces and connecting our communities are city building principles that I am proud to support and that this plan achieves. For years I have been a champion of the West Toronto Railpath; and I look forward to working with the community to make the Green Line a reality and create a fantastic network of this type of infrastructure in Toronto’s west end.”

Councillor Ana Bailão (Ward 18)

“In downtown Toronto, in an area of parks deficiency, we must focus on new and creative greenspaces. The Green Line will do just that. A 5km urban green corridor linking communities together. It’s an initiative whose time has come.”

Councillor Joe Cressy (Ward 20)

“I urge you to support Green Line’s vision of greening our city and connecting communities. Let’s support them in creating and sustaining a healthier, more vibrant and vital Toronto… now and for generations to come!”

Councillor Joe Mihevc (Ward 21)

“With our city evolving and our communities growing, it’s becoming increasingly important to keep people connected and to provide avenues through which they can remain connected. The Green Line is a fantastic project that strives to do exactly that by unlocking the potential of existing space in our city.”

MPP Cristina Martins (Davenport)

Community Support

The community adjacent to the corridor is putting support behind this important project.

“The Green Line is an exciting opportunity for this neighbourhood, and our city. We should be supporting creative planning that connects people to our important public assets and develop more biking, walking and gardening infrastructure. The Green Line is a transformative investment in community building and a healthier Toronto.”

Rachel Gray, Executive Director of The Stop

“When it comes to placemaking proposals in the city, the Green Line is the best kind of vision: it’s realistic, responsive to the neighbourhoods around it, and eminently walkable. The Green Line reminds us that we have remarkable community assets all around us. We just have to adopt them into our lives and vouch for them with our feet.”

Denise Pinto, Jane’s Walk

“Friends of Earlscourt Park loves how this project will repurpose derelict land into a thriving link through the city, much like New York’s High Line has done. What a  great way to make urban waste into an urban oasis.”
